Receiving Quantum Cascade Laser from ETH Zurich

As part of the ongoing progress within the SWIRLS (Sensitive Wideband Infrared Laser Spectroscopy) project, our laboratory at Wrocław University of Science and Technology has taken delivery of a quantum cascade laser (QCL) provided by consortium partner ETH Zurich.

The SWIRLS initiative relies on tailored semiconductor laser sources to enable broadband, high-resolution trace gas analysis across the mid-infrared region. Integrating this laser into the optical setup is an essential step toward reaching our sensitivity and modulation targets.

Laboratory validation will commence once assembly of the dedicated laser housing is finalized. The custom enclosure currently under development features a hermetic, moisture-controlled seal and integrated active thermal management to ensure precise temperature stabilization, low optical drift, and safe continuous operation of the device.

Once benchtop integration and thermal qualification are complete, initial spectroscopic characterization will begin.
